What is a Cultivator?
To bring fresh energy and variety to our monthly gatherings, we're asking folks to "adopt" a month and plan an activity for the club that month. You don't have to have a venue or speaking skills. Hosting simply means making a plan for our get together and handling the basic coordination or logistics.
Its no pressure and meant to be fun, so pick any gardening related topic, activity or community project that you’re excited about and claim your spot!

Your meeting can be as simple or creative as you like! Here are a few ideas:
Guest Speaker or Mini-Talk: Invite a guest speaker or local expert and act as their point of contact for the meeting.
Hands-On Craft or Workshop: Plan a project (for example, flower printing or making a mini terrarium) and plan the materials and instruction needed.
Community Project Maintenance: Organize a session to weed, plant, or tend to one of our community flower beds.
Field Trip or Outing: Arrange a trip to a local nursery, nature trail, or even your own garden.
Casual Social & Swap: Plan a plant/seed swap, garden trivia night, or show-and-tell session.

Flexible Timing: Meetings are typically scheduled for the first Monday of the month at 6:30 PM, but dates can be shifted with advance notice to accommodate weather, outdoor events, or planned community events.

Once you have a rough plan (topic, activity, or guest speaker), send us the details!
We will:
Add your event to our website and promotional calendar.
Submit event details to the Grand Ledge Library for local promotion (if details are provided early enough).
Reserve or cancel our meeting space at Wacousta Commons (if needed).

When meeting day arrives, your main role depends on your activity but could include greeting the speaker, introducing the topic to the guests, and/or guiding the activity. If the event is a field trip, let folks know when and where to meet, and if there will be a cost.
Equipment: A projector is available for slideshows or visual presentations.
Full Support Provided: Club leadership and members are on hand to help with setup, teardown, and other logistics.

Not necessarily. If your project requires materials or a speaker fee, please coordinate with the club board in advance so we can review potential expenses through the club budget. Feel free to email us or reach out to our secretary Sara Clark.
Can multiple people share a month?
Can multiple people share a month?
Absolutely! In fact, co-hosting is one of the best ways to do it, especially for our large events such as the Wacousta Block Party. Feel free to bring in friends and family as well. Or if an event that someone else is hosting peaks your interest, reach out and see if they need a hand.

Then this is a great place to start, since we are a small, down-to-earth group! Folks are always happy to help, share ideas, and lend a hand on meeting day. Feel free to ask friends, family, classmates, coworkers, and pets to help as well. We are welcoming to all, be it it for 1 meeting or 100.

We have a list of people in local speakers who give talks about gardening related topics. Just email us for a copy of the list, pick a speaker, and reach out to them.
